About Our Local Office

Ben Solomon
Right at Home

Ben Solomon

Owner/Administrator

I own and operate the Right At Home offices in Seattle and Bellevue.   These offices serve clients in King and Snohomish Counties.

A personal experience that touched my heart and led me to understand the need for supportive home care for seniors, happened when I found an elderly neighbor on his hand and knees in the middle of his driveway trying to walk a letter from his house to his mailbox. Too humiliated to ask for help, I offered assistance, which he hesitantly accepted. Unfortunately, over the years I have had many personal experiences with many, like this stoic senior: virtual prisoners in their homes.

My goal since the beginning in 2004 has been to develop tools and programs that meet a fundamental goal –keeping seniors happy, safe, and healthy in their homes.  We do not believe in a one size fits all approach to home care.  We meet with each client and their families.  We listen and understand their goals and then look for solutions that meet those needs.  We also understand that aging is a dynamic process, working closely with our clients and families to meet their changing needs.

I am proud of the team that I have put together – we all came to Right At Home serving people in our community.  We understand that details matter and work hard every day to make our clients lives full and productive.

Before starting Right At Home I had over a decade of marketing and management experience in healthcare. I was an educator in a rural Japanese community, and hold an MBA from Cornell University.

You can contact us at our office 24 hours per day.  We look forward to caring for your loved ones in such a manner that they'll always feel "right at home".

Michelle Marr, LPN

Home Health Specialist

I joined Right at Home in January 2009.  I have been a nurse for 14 years with a background in preventative medicine.  I love working with people, especially the elderly.  Before I met Ben, I knew very little about Home Care and Home Health agencies.  What attracted me to Right at Home were the unique programs and services they offer to help seniors stay independent in their home.

Recently, I performed an assessment on a client with memory loss.  The client’s family was confused about their choices and the recent decline in their loved-one.  It was a time of despair for the family.  I was able to offer them information on our programs so they felt in control of deciding which service best fits their immediate need.  They decided on a program that includes a monthly visit from Mo McCormick, our Director of Nursing.  This RN oversight put the family at ease.  The family thanked me for listening to them, and offering so many choices.  It is great to help people in need.  Everyone deserves the right to live with dignity.  I am proud to be a member of the Right at Home team!

Maureen ‘MO’ McCormick, R.N.

Director of Nursing

After a long absence from Nursing I returned in 2003 to begin a new career in Home Health.   I stumbled into it by chance when a friend needed relief caring for a patient in her home.   It didn't take long to realize how much I loved delivering health care in this way.  My previous nursing experiences were delivered in a hospital setting. I enjoy the challenge of providing nursing at home, the ability to develop strong personal relationships with my clients, and see the results of providing good competent care.

Home Health also affords me the chance to use my background in Adolescent and Family Therapy which I practiced for 12 years.   Working with our clients’ families is a very important aspect of Home Health Nursing.  Working for Right at Home, which values compassion and competency, makes it possible to carry out the best of in client and family care.

I also pride myself in our training programs including Care Camp Fundamentals, which helps support Right At Home’s mission to providing competent and capable caregivers.

Matt Bolesta

Office Manager

People often ask me, why I work in home care.  I say why not! One day you’re celebrating a gentleman’s 99th birthday with a martini, the next moment you’re that extension a person needs in a time of crisis. I enjoy being the person who can make a difference in someone’s life.

As Office Manager, I am responsible for the day-to-day activity in our office: from staffing, to recruitment, to client services.  I see myself as a caregiver to our clients, and a supporter for our staff.  My job is to provide my staff with the tools and support they need to reach their full potential.  Home care can be stressful and I enjoying providing a loose and enjoyable environment that allows people to be themselves, be creative problem solvers, and have fun.

Angela LaBlanc

Staffing Coordinator

I started at Right At Home as a caregiver, and understand the challenge of being a professional caregiver.  This knowledge has been invaluable in my current position as Right At Home’s Staffing Coordinator.

I am responsible for making sure that we match happy caregivers with happy clients. It is important for me to understand that our caregivers are a good fit for our clients.  Everyone has a different temperament.  Some clients are looking for strong, take charge caregivers, while other clients need someone who is more quiet and reserved.

In either case, it is important that our caregivers have excellent problem-solving skills and can follow direction.  I work with clients and caregivers to make sure there is clear communication and understanding of what is expected of our care staff.  Our goal is to make sure our clients are happy and safe.

I pride myself on my keen senses of observation and intuition.  These help me understand what is truly important to my caregivers and families.  I believe in clear and honest communication with a nurturing touch.  The work we do is too important for us not be honest with each other.

Kyle West

Recruitment Specialist

What I do

I am responsible for hiring caregivers at Right at Home, making sure they ready to provide outstanding care from day one. I make sure that documentation is carefully reviewed and background checks and reference checks are thorough and complete. When I interview an applicant, I not only make sure the candidate has the skills, resources, and experience to do the job, but also look for someone who is dependable, trustworthy, warm, kind, and loving. In other words, I ask myself when I meeting with the applicant if this is someone I would want to take care of my grandmother.

Why Home Care

I started working for Right at Home 2 years ago.  Before I came to Right at Home I worked with developmentally disabled adults in Idaho.  I discovered that helping other people is extremely rewarding.  Since joining Right at Home I’ve enjoyed meeting our clients and learning more about them.  Each client is unique and special.  Seeing the relationship that our clients and caregivers have developed makes me excited about the work I do.

My favorite Client Story

I visited a new client who was recently released from a skilled nursing facility.  As I learned more about her situation I discovered that she would be turning 90 in two weeks.  Many of her friends live out of town and she had no birthday plans.  I was able to plan a birthday party with her and her caregiver.  One of my favorite things about working at Right at Home is the way we are encouraged to go the extra mile for our clients

Carolyn Vouk

Bookkeeper

Everyday I see my team’s patience, understanding, trust and magnificent commitment to helping our clients and caregivers.

Responsible for Right At Home’s accounting and billing, I experience and hear the daily hum of the agency: Kyle instructing - Mo, our nurse, teaching - Matt, our office manager discussing care issues, always with patience and a sense of humor.

Angela reworking a schedule for the third time.  Tigist constantly and consistently answering phones, greeting clients and caregivers - always with a firm, positive and friendly voice.  And Michelle bringing an energy that is never-ending and vibrant!

Over the year that I have worked here, Ben has shown endless loyalty to his clients, caregivers and employees.  I am very proud to be a part of the Right At Home team.  I think it was Confucius that said “Find a job that you love and you will never have to work”.
